Day 98 (Empty Nestering) - A Five Second Hug :)

Did you know that if someone hugs you for five seconds or longer that your brain automatically registers that person is a lover; three to four seconds...a family member; two to three seconds...a friend.  Just a little "Marriage Relations" trivia. :)

Scott and I have the neat opportunity for the next six weeks to attend a "Marriage Relations" class in our ward.  The class started last week and it is so enjoyable.  Our instructor is an actual certified marriage counselor so we get the best of two worlds...the spiritual side plus all the interesting scientific research/statistics that have gone into the subject!  It is so interesting!

Today we talked about attributes of unified and non-unified couples.  Studies show that successful businesses, partnerships AND marriages function on a 4:1 ratio - 4 positives to 1 negative.  Sadly in our world, the average ratio of positives to negatives in a marriage is .8:1...ya, that's a point 8!!  And we wonder why there is such a high divorce rate!  Of course our assignment for the week is FLOOD YOUR PARTNER WITH POSITIVES!!

Last week he talked about the four stages of love and Scott and I just looked at each other afterwards and said, "That is so true!"  Fortunately for us, we've paddled our way through the first three stages and are totally enjoying the fourth one!  It's kind-of like the first stage all over again...but better!  Just gotta say, "I Love It!!"
Each week we have a reading assignment from our Marriage Relations manual
Gotta love technology and downloading from LDS.org!
