Perhaps two years later, he was diagnosed with colon cancer and given six months to live. On April 23, 2014 he passed away after living 2 1/2 years longer than the doctors ever expected. Anna's family called him the miracle man.
Today Scott and I attended JD's funeral. It was a wonderful service! From the talks given and comments from people around, you could tell he was loved by many. Such a fun man...such a spiritual man. And what a comfort to know that he is now free of suffering and pain AND serving the spirits in heaven!

One thing that really touched me...Anna's brother Jesse flies out this Tuesday to Germany to serve his mission there. If you look closely at his picture, you can see something in his right hand. During the viewing prior to the funeral, Jesse slipped his missionary name badge into his father's hand. I'm pretty sure there will be two "Elder Rogers" serving a mission in Germany these next two years!!

"Our Beloved Pa"
On August 10, 1957 (JD) John Daniel Rogers was born. On April 23, 2014 at age 56 to his Heavenly Father he returned. He thanks all the nurses, staff, doctors, and friend Dewayne, for the 3 ½ years the cancer they detained. His parents are Donna Gwen Olson and James Marcel Rogers. He has three sisters and one brother he loves so much. In the Manti Temple Lisa Johnson became his wife, and together they will have eternal life. He graduated from the U of U and ever since has been a proud Ute. JD started as a seminary teacher, but left the job he loved to be a Real Estate Appraiser. Through hard work and patience, he earned his S.R.A. license. He worked very hard and many long days, so his beloved family would be okay. To us his life will always remind, to be happy, loving, gentle, and kind. In death he is preceded by his Mother Donna, Father-in-law Stanley, and son Daniel Kimball. He is survived by his Father Marcel; Wife Lisa; children Brianne (Doug), Annalisa (Jason), Amanda, Jesse; and grandchildren Erin, Abbey, and Lily, the pride of his life. We invite you to celebrate his life with us. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 1, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at the Summerhill Stake Center, 12120 south 1300 west. Viewings will be Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road, and at the church from 9-10:30am. Interment, Vernon Cemetery.
